Not that I don’t have like a 1000+ movies to choose from, but you know how it goes – the more you have, the harder it is to choose. But I am in a mood for an Asian cinema, and I haven’t watched anything horror related for some time either, so the choice has been made.
Khalasirna – Demo 2020 (digital review)
Khalasirna demo review is another classic example of social media being used in the right way. You can bitch and moan about how much people spending time with useless stuff online, but the truth is, it’s really a blessing! Why, you ask?
In the Ruthenian woods (interview with Obšar)
Obšar has come to my attention quite unexpectedly and by a sheer coincidence. A friend of mine has sent me a link to their latest video and what a surprise, his brother was a drum player in this band! Funny thing is, I remember him being like 5-6 year old years ago, so it’s quite interesting how time flies.
WitcheR – Boszorkánytánc (album review)
With next demo (from 2011, re-released with added outro in 2013) there are two possible ways to look at it: first, there’s not much change from the debut “Útalan utakon” (reviewed here) and that’s great, and the second, there’s not much change, why bother?
Well, fortunately I belong to the first camp and I enjoy this atmospheric black metal piece for what it is. Boszorkánytánc – as you might know from one of my posts – was actually my first encounter with this Hungarian duo.
Demons Damn – Retaliation (CD review)
Demons Damn is one of those bands you’ve probably never heard of, but you really should. And because I need that spark of energy in my life right now (damn, I’m tired), I am welcoming “Retaliation” into my life. Willingly! 🙂
WitcheR – Úttalan utakon (2010 demo review)
Recently I’ve encountered – and familiarized myself a little – with this nice atmospheric black metal project from Hungary by the name of WitcheR. Well, I pretty much like anything from atmospheric and symphonic black metal genre, so when I’ve ordered some stuff from Akné Productions (by the way, you can read the interview with its owner, Wayne, here), I’ve got myself a Cdr re-release of their 2011 demo Boszorkánytánc as well..and that’s how I’ve got to know this project.
Starscape – Colony (digital promo review)
Through the ones and zeros of the Internet has arrived a still-hot-from-the-oven promo of this Swedish duo. Described as “traditional heavy metal with plenty of melody, prominent bass lines, and the occasional organ part. The band’s music has been likened to acts such as HÄLLAS, JUDAS PRIEST, as well as URIAH HEEP“, this description has caught my eye – not because I would describe myself as a fan of traditional heavy metal, I certainly don’t listen to Uriah Heep, and even Judas Priest kinda eludes me as a whole, but on the contrary – I don’t usually listen to this genre (1970s, early 1980s), definitely not enough, so, why not, right?
Acne treatment the extreme music way!(an interview with Wayne (Akné Productions)
I am not really sure how I’ve end up getting the distro update from Akné Productions, but one day the e-mail had landed in my inbox. Then I’ve discovered this small label/distro is actually from my home country of Slovakia so, that was one more reason to check it.
Venomed – Removal (CD review)
My mood for the Indonesian extreme metal still reigns strong, and as you know, there are literally hundreds of band waiting to be discovered! So I’ve decided to have a look at my CD collection to see something to satisfy my musical urges – and the random perusal of my modest collection has resulted in having this nice little album in my player.
When the slamming has a soul (an interview with Ricko)
I might repeat myself again and again, but it’s no secret I love Asian scene, mostly movies (and TV series) and music. And if you are into extreme music, you might already know that Indonesia has one of the biggest and greatest scenes of the world.
