Elour – Blood Running (2023)

Elour Blood Running feature image

Elour’s debut album is out for over a year now, and you might think I’m just fucking lazy to wait that long for a review. Trust me, there are reasons for that…

Anyway, it’s “Blood Running” and I went blindly for it. I could read the promosheet first, but who does that, right? Well, certainly not me. Music first, please.

So, Elour is Elizabeth Ghandour and the guys. And together they play what Elizabeth calls “femme rock”. Obviously, it’s a female-fronted rock, melodic but full of surprising energy and I have to say I like it from the first note of the opener “Reputation”. This song is on the album twice, the original version and the radio edit, but unlike many similar songs, here I don’t mind it at all, the song is catchy as fuck.

That doesn’t mean other are not. What I’ve written about the first, I could just copy and paste for every song on the album. Luckily, I am usually changing genres on a daily basis, so I can enjoy albums without being bored being stuck too long with one genre.

Elour and their “Blood Running” sounds familiar, yet still fresh and that’s its strength. Patti Smith vibe at times, The Cardigans at others, I can’t imagine anyone not liking this one.

But enough of pontificating…just play the song below to see what I am talking about:
